When and where do we meet? A: We convene every Saturday at Blatchford Sporting and Recreation Reserve. The ride departs promptly at 10:00 AM, so we kindly ask that participants arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the session to allow sufficient time for registration and check-in.

What is the route? A: Participants will walk with their bikes to the Kallangur cycling track’s starting point. After a warm-up, they’ll ride to Kippa-Ring Station and then return to Blatchford Sporting and Recreation Reserve.

Will there be breaks? A: To ensure the well-being of all participants, we will be incorporating short breaks at each train station along the route. These breaks will provide an opportunity for riders to hydrate, refresh, and continue the challenge with renewed energy. Water stations are available at each station, allowing everyone to stay properly hydrated throughout the ride. However, we strongly recommend that participants bring their own water bottles for additional convenience, to save time and to ensure they remain well-hydrated.

Is this a race? A: No, this is not a race. The focus is on the experience of the journey, building teamwork, and gradually improving cycling endurance. The challenge is about reducing the time it takes to complete the journey while ensuring a fun, supportive atmosphere.

Who will lead the group? A: The group will be led by Charlotte and Bradley. Bradley will be at the front, ensuring the pace is steady, and Charlotte will be at the rear, making sure no one gets left behind.

What should my child bring? A: Participants are required to bring their own bikes and helmets. It’s important to ensure that both are in good working condition to avoid delays. Mechanical issues may result in a fee if they cause delays for the group. It is essential that participants bring their own water bottles for additional convenience, to save time and to ensure they remain well-hydrated.

What are the requirements for participating? A: Participants should have competent riding skills and be comfortable cycling on the route. This initiative is not suitable for beginners or riders who may struggle with cycling endurance.

Can participants go home on their own after the ride? A: Yes, participants can leave independently once the ride is finished. Alternatively, parents can pick up their child from Blatchford Sporting and Recreation Reserve.

What happens if my child’s bike has a mechanical issue? A: Please ensure that your child’s bike is in good working order before attending. Mechanical problems could delay the group, and a fee may be imposed to cover any disruptions caused. If the bike is unable to be fixed a parent will be called to collect their child or other arrangements can be made (Such as the child getting the train home independently) at the parents expense.

How can I contact the event leaders? A: For any questions or concerns, you can contact Charlotte or Bradley directly on the contact details provided when you register for the initiative.

Is the ride suitable for beginners? A: This challenge is designed for intermediate riders who have basic cycling skills. It may not be suitable for complete beginners or those not comfortable cycling for longer distances.

What should my child wear? A: Wearing a helmet is mandatory for all participants in the cycling challenge. This is essential for safety throughout the ride. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing is recommended, along with closed-toe shoes that are safe for cycling. For safety reasons, it is advised that riders refrain from wearing loose-fitting, long pants during the ride. Such attire may pose a risk while cycling. Additionally, participants are reminded to bring a water bottle to ensure proper hydration throughout the journey.

Do children have roads to cross? A: Yes. The route includes four roads to cross, comprising one pedestrian crossing and two zebra crossings. The road without a crossing is a minor route, and necessary precautions will be implemented to ensure the safety of the group. All children are required to dismount from their bikes in order to cross the road safely.

What happens if it rains or there is bad weather? A: In the case of bad weather, sessions may be canceled or rescheduled. Participants will be informed in advance.
